Yau Tsim officers praised

A banner was presented to Yau Tsim District Commander John Bicknell last month in appreciation of "the professionalism, courage and prompt action" of Yau Tsim District officers in dealing with a shooting incident during a kidnap attempt in Hillwood Road and Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui on January 30.

Tsim Sha Tsui Area Committee and Yau Tsim Sport and Recreation Association members, led by their chairman Chiu Yu-hei and Yau Tsim Mong District Fight Crime Committee Chairman Ip Kwok-chung, jointly made the presentation.

Earlier, Tsim Sha Tsui Division held a "Baai Kwan Dai" ceremony to offer prayers and thanks for the success in foiling the kidnap attempt. Some 200 guests including Deputy Commissioner Operations Lau Yuk-kuen, Kowloon West Regional Commander M. Stradmoor, and a number of senior officers and community leaders attended the ceremony.
