Some 1,200 road safety patrol members took part in an Annual Parade held in Sheung Shui last month.

Organsied by Traffic NTN and Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol New Territories North Region, the participants comprised children, road safety patrol veterans, and primary and secondary students.

Senior Superintendent Wong Sak-pang of Traffic NTN who inspected the patrol teams thanked members for playing an active role in assisting Police to promote road safety.

The all-girl team of Fanling Government Secondary School won the championship in the secondary school division while Tai Po Old Market Public School was the champion of the primary school division. The winning teams will be nominated to participate in the grand parade and foot drill competition to be held at Mong Kok Stadium later this year.

Earlier, NT North Road Safety Campaign Committee organised an "Enjoy Yourself Tonight - NT North Road Safety Night" television extravaganza to promote road safety and to present certificates of appointment to honorary presidents.

Officiating guests included Deputy Director of Home Affairs H.T. Lui; Acting RC NTN David Thomas; Assistant Commissioner of Transport Au Wing-hei; Acting CSP Traffic P. Croft, and Chairman of the NT North Road Safety Campaign Committee Lau Yip-keung.
