New Year fun run 2002

The 8th New Year Fun Run, organised by New Territories South Regional Police Officers' Mess, was won by pre-race favourite Police Constable Yam Chi-wai of Ma On Shan Division.

Mr Yam, who was also last year's winner, finished the 5.6 kilometres course in Mui Tze Lam, Ma On Shan, in 21 minutes 12 seconds.

First runner-up was PC Wong Yiu-fung of PTU A Company who finished in 22 minutes five seconds. The second runner-up was Inspector Wong Shu-chung from the same Company who finished in 22 minutes 24 seconds. In the ladies' category, Law Ching-man of PTU A Company was the first to reach the finishing line in 27 minutes 46 seconds.

The day also marked the last working day of Detective Station Sergeant Lau Yui-ki. As a special souvenir for his retirement, Lau's teammates ran next to him in the race. Acting RC NTS Tang Kam-moon, presented prizes to winners at the Police Officers' Mess.
