More than 500 people attended the Tuen Mun Road Safety Town Open Day organised by the New Territories North (NTN) Road Safety Campaign Committee earlier this month.
At a ceremony, certificates were also presented to 67 students who had completed a three-day course under the assistant pioneer scheme. Another three students were awarded certificates for outstanding performance. Officiating at the ceremony included Traffic NTN HQ Superintendent David Whyte; Chairman of Traffic and Transport Committee, Tuen Mun District Council So Siu-shing; and Vice-chairman of NTN Road Safety Campaign Committee Dan Yang Wing-man. The event began with the inspection of six Children Road Safety Patrol Teams by Mr Whyte, followed by singing and dancing performances by children from seven kindergartens. Eight game booths were also set up to disseminate the message on road safety, including crossing the road when the green light is on, using the zebra crossing and using the footbridge or subway.
