A fun-filled KE Family |

Some 400 Force members and their families participated in a thoughtful and fun-filled Kowloon East Family Life Education Programme on Mother's Day at the campus of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). The event, jointly organised by KE Regional Headquarters, Personnel Services Branch and the Moral Education Concern Group (MECG), kicked off following welcoming speeches by KE Regional Commander, Mr Mak Man-poon and the Convener of MECG, Mr Moses Cheng. Among the guests who attended the event were the Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa; Honorary Advisor of MECG, Mrs Betty Tung; the Acting Commissioner of Police, Mr Lau Yuk-kuen, and the President of HKUST, Mr Paul Chu Ching-wu. While the adults were attending a seminar conducted by Professor Wong Chung-kwong, Chairman of the Positive Living United Services on "Overcoming Stress, Turning Crisis into Opportunities and Living a Fulfilled Life", their children participated in a variety of educational groups organised by the social workers and volunteers of Caritas. This was followed by a buffet lunch with a clown performance, a children's drawing competition, talks on computer risks and opportunities and visits to key locations around the HKUST. Senior Police Constable Chan Chiu-yeung, who participated in the event with his wife and four-year-old son, told OffBeat: "My family had a great time. I was impressed by Professor Wong's lively seminar on stress management which was stimulating, interesting and enlightening." Mrs Chan added: "We have benefited immensely from the seminar. It was such an enjoyable and unforgettable Mother's Day." Another participant, SPC Lee Wai-kin and his wife echoed that they had learned a lot from the event and would welcome similar activities in the future. Mrs Lee added: "The presentations on computer crime by Commercial Crime Bureau officers and cyber university for secondary school students by HKUST Professor Poon Ting-chuen were so useful that many attendees, including me, were reluctant to leave when the presentations came to an end." The programme ended with KE Regional Commander, Mr Mak Man-poon, presenting prizes to the winners of the children's drawing competition. The KE Family Life Education programme was part of the Healthy Lifestyle Programme launched by the Force since 1997 to encourage Force members to live a healthy and family-oriented lifestyle.
