The International Drug Enforcement Conference (IDEC) Far East Region held its first "Targeting Conference" in Hong Kong earlier this month.
Hong Kong was chosen to host the event following the decision of the IDEC XX Conference held in Bolivia in February this year.
The two-day conference started on July 9 and was aimed at providing a flexible and forward thinking environment in sharing information and taking positive action against transnational drug traffickers.
Some 42 senior anti-narcotics officers from the Mainland, Hong Kong, Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and the United States attended the conference.
The Chief of Operations of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) of the US, Mr Rogelio Guevara, delivered the opening remarks.
He also paid a courtesy call on Commissioner Tsang Yam-pui on July 11. They discussed strategies in tackling drug trafficking and money laundering activities.
The East Asia Regional Director of DEA, Mr William Snipes, also presented commendations to three Force officers for successfully uncovering a drug trafficking case. |
