Visit by Narcotics Control Commission officials from Mainland

An 11-member delegation from the Mainland's National Narcotics Control Commission, visited Hong Kong on July 15 to study the enforcement of anti-narcotics laws in Hong Kong.

Led by the Deputy Director of Bureau of Narcotics Control, Ministry of Public Security, Mr Chen Cunyi, the party first paid a courtesy call on the Director of Crime and Security, Mr Chau Foo-cheong, and the Head of Narcotics Bureau, Chief Superintendent Ip Lau-chuen.

At the meeting, the visitors were briefed on enforcement actions by the Force. Both sides also exchanged views on mutual concerns, and discussed a number of issues, including investigations to counter drug trafficking and money laundering activities.

During their seven-day stay, the senior officials also toured local correctional facilities for drug addicts.

Before winding up their visit, the officials met Assistant Commissioner (Crime), Mr Yam Tat-wing, and held discussions on a proposal to further co-operate in combating cross-boundary drug trafficking activities.
