The Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) has been commended for launching the school liaison programme. The appreciation came from the Principal of Kowloon Technical School, Mrs Hung Chan Sau-lai, at a recent presentation ceremony held at Sham Shui Po District. Mrs Hung presented a banner to Senior Superintendent Public Relations, Mr Alan Fan Sik-ming, in appreciation of PPRB's efforts in designing and co-ordinating the school liaison programme, which has benefited all secondary schools. "I am so glad that the Force has allocated resources by appointing 33 sergeants as secondary school liaison officers. The move has strengthened communication between Police and various secondary schools," she stressed. Mr Fan said: "Since its implementation a year ago, the programme has been well received and we will continue to improve and expand this service." PPRB has organised a series of training, including counselling techniques and communication skills, to further enhance the performance of the liaison officers. "We are now in the process of producing five short documentaries on the types of crimes committed by students such as theft of mobile phones, violence in schools and shop thefts. These will be used by the liaison officers as teaching material," he said. Earlier at the ceremony, Mrs Hung also presented banners to the Shum Shui Po District Commander, Mr Peter Hunt; a secondary school liaison officer, Sergeant Ho Wai-lun, and officers of the District's Anti-Triad Section, in appreciation of their efforts in successfully running the school liaison programme in her school.
