About 200 people from Tsuen Wan's business community and their employees earlier this month attended a talk on the identification of counterfeit banknotes and credit cards organised by the Crime Prevention Office, New Territories South (NTS) Region. They comprised owners and employees from retail outlets, jewellery shops, catering industry and hotel representatives. During the two-hour talk, two Senior Inspectors from Commercial Crime Bureau, Mr Yuen Kam-leung, and Mr David Cheung, explained the procedures involved in handling discovered forged banknotes and credit cards. The participants were also coached on the techniques of identifying forged banknotes. "It is our role to promote crime prevention publicity. To this end, we always organise various thematic educational programmes in a bid to enhance public awareness of crime prevention measures," NTS Regional Crime Prevention Officer, Miss Chau Sinping, told Offbeat. "The response from participants to our effort was exceptionally positive. They found the talks very informative. "We will assess the comments made and then consider organising similar talks in the near future to further enhance local residents' knowledge of crime prevention concepts," Miss Chau added. |
