Eight Probationary Inspectors and 165 recruit Constables passed out from the Police Training School on July 13.

In reviewing the passing-out parade, the Chairman of the Independent Police Complaints Council, Mr Robert Tang, said that a strict, fair and transparent system ensuring that complaints against Police officers were handled properly and impartially would maintain the public's confidence in the Force.

He pointed out that public complaints against Police officers had their positive aspects as they offered chances for reflection.

"Officers should seek rectification if at fault or else let complaints be an inspiration. An effective complaints' handling system will help the officers concerned to rectify and learn from mistakes," he said.

Although the roles played by the Complaints Against Police Office and the Independent Police Complaints Council were different, Mr Tang pointed out that they shared a common objective of maintaining the highest level of integrity and discipline in the Police Force.
