The Welfare Services Group has organised a number of support groups for health impaired officers (HIOs) in the past and is planning another one of four consecutive weekly meetings starting Friday September 27. The Group sessions aim at enhancing an officer's ability to cope with health-related problems and so become better able to handle his/her duties. Previous groups have proved popular with participants and have obviously been very effective. Junior Police Officers and their spouses are warmly invited to join the Group providing that (a) they are on the Active Health Impaired Officers List, (b) they have not participated in an earlier group, (c) they are not planning to retire in the coming year and (d) they are among the first 15 to apply for the limited number of vacancies. The group will meet on September 27 and October 4 at the Police Sports & Recreation Club, on October 11 at Tai Mei Tuk Activity Training Centre and on October 18 back at the Police Sports & Recreation Club. The eight meetings will cover: (1) Orientation; (2) Force policy and posting arrangements for Health Impaired Officers; (3) Multi-Intelligence and Adversity; (4) Nutrition & Health; (5) Tai Chi Treatment; (6) Community Visit; (7) Music Therapy; and, (8) Sharing of experience and evaluation All TSROs are requested to disseminate the information to the attention of all HIOs. Please forward any enquiries or applications directly to Ms Nancy Lam (APWO NTN) on 2673-2393 or Ms Hedy Ho (APWO KE) on 2304-1402.
