Tuen Mun District secondary school principals seminar

A total of 38 principals and representatives from 33 secondary schools attended the Tuen Mun District Secondary School Principals Seminar held earlier.

The seminar was chaired by the Tuen Mun District Commander, Mr Au Hok-lam. Also present were the District Officer of the Social Welfare Department, the Vice Chairman of the Tuen Mun District Fight Crime Committee, Senior School Development Officers of the Education Department, the Chairman of Tuen Mun Secondary School Principals Association and the Chairman of the Federation of Parent-Teacher Association.

Woman Senior Inspector of the Tuen Mun District Anti-Triad Section, Ms Chung Lie-moy, gave a briefing covering trends and figures for student related crime in the district. Following this, the Tuen Mun District Police Community Relations Officer, Mr Lam King-kong, gave an evaluation of the Secondary School Liaison Officer and Secondary School Ambassador scheme for the school year 2001-2002.

Participants were highly appreciative of the contribution made by Secondary School Liaison Officers and Secondary School Ambassadors to a significant decrease in juvenile crime in the district.

There was a vigorous exchange of information and ideas among the participants while they discussed a number of issues with Mr Au, including cooperation with the Police and the appropriate strategies to be deployed for the next school year.
