A series of 'Help People to Help Themselves' activities were launched in various districts recently. Eighty youngsters took part in a three-day 'Help People to Help Themselves' Fight Crime Ambassadors Training Camp at the Mui Wo Recreation Association Camp Site last month. It was jointly organised by Lantau and Marine Port Districts, the Islands District Council and Islands Fight Crime Committee. The event featured various recreational activities, a barbecue party and a talk on self-assurance and drugs. Over the coming six months, the young ambassadors will take part in various fight crime activities focussing on this year's main themes: 'Domestic security, shoplifting and street deception'. Meanwhile, over 300 Tuen Mun Fight Crime Ambassadors attended a 'Help People to Help Themselves' seminar in Tuen Mun City Hall. The ambassadors, comprising students and professionals, will help in disseminating fight crime messages in schools and housing estates. Recently, Kwai Tsing District Fight Crime Committee Activities Opening Ceremony cum 'Help People to Help Themselves' Fight Crime Campaign was held at Maritime Square. Over 200 youngsters and residents took part in an event featuring a lion dance and instrumental and singing performances by Junior Police Call members. To promote an anti-shop theft message, a slogan and painting competition was recently launched in Wong Tai Sin District. The contest attracted over 2,400 entries and the winning entries were displayed at the 'Fight Youth Crime Carnival' on August 3 at Plaza Hollywood.
