A group of 40 students, 20 each from the University of Hong Kong and Beijing's Renmin University of China, visited the Police Training School on July 25.

The group were members of a two-month-long summer exchange programme titled "A Study of Two Cities" that aimed at improving country-wide socio-cultural collaboration through various field projects.

Chief Inspector Johnson Kwok of the Police Training School Basic Training Division welcomed them with an introduction to the organisation, missions, and highlights of the Police Training School.

During the visit, the students witnessed the day-to-day training of police recruits, the highly animated Tactical Training Complex, mock operations of a court and report room, and the demanding Police Professional Ability Test.

When they described the military training required in their first year of undergraduate studies on the Mainland, the Beijing students were invited to join a drill session with a class of recruits.

Speaking after the event, a third year finance student from Beijing, Mr Sung Shuangjiang, said they were all most impressed with their face-to-face meetings with Hong Kong Police Officers. "We found them to be warm and friendly human beings who showed us what Police work in Hong Kong was really like," he added.
