Members of the Police Paintings and Calligraphy Club scored a success in the Civil Servants Painting and Calligraphy Competition by winning 28 awards in various categories.

The competition, which was organised by the Wen Wai Po to commemorate the 5th Anniversary of the founding of the HKSAR, received a total of 5,130 works from civil servants in Mainland, Hong Kong, USA, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei.

At a ceremony held earlier this month at Hong Kong Central Library, 28 awards were handed out to Force representatives. The most notable among them were a second-class 'calligraphy' award to Senior Inspector Ma Yun-hein and third-class awards to Station Sergeant Kwok Yiu-wai and Sergeant Wong Chun-chuen. Police Translator, Ms Chu Yuen-yee, won a third-class award in the Chinese painting category.

Secretary for Civil Service, Mr Joseph W P Wong; Secretary for Home Affairs, Dr Ho Chi-ping, and Commissioner Tsang Yam-pui, were among senior Mainland and HKSAR officials at the ceremony. There was also a three-day exhibition of some of the outstanding works submitted.
