Following the recommendations of the Security Bureau's Inter-departmental Working Group on Computer Related Crime, effective exchange of information and cooperation between the local enforcement agencies and the private sectors have been recognised as one of the key successful factors in the fight against technology crimes.

In appreciation of the support and enhanced Police cooperation received from internet service providers and the private sector, the Director of Crime and Security, Mr Chau Foo-cheong; Assistant Commissioner (Crime), Mr Yam Tat-wing, and Commercial Crime Bureau officers, together with senior representatives from Customs and Excise Department, Immigration Department and the Independent Commission Against Corruption, invited representatives from those sectors to participate in the first 'Forum of Exchange' at the Senior Officers Mess earlier.

A total of 40 disciplined staff, together with 80 personnel from Information Technology and Communication fields, met in a pleasant and informal atmosphere.

Nevertheless, there was a vigorous exchange of information and ideas among the participants. The forum was deemed to be useful and informative and is likely to be repeated next year.
