Happy Valley copper revives old man |

"Thank you for saving my dad's life. Keep up your good work!" That's what a lady wrote in her thank you card to Police Constable, Mr Benny Yip Tak-kin, who saved her unconscious father's life by conducting emergency first-aid on him.
The Happy Valley Division Patrol Sub-unit 3 officer was called to a Causeway Bay hotel where a 73-year-old man had fallen into a coma.
Mr Yip recalled: "The man's condition was so poor that his face had already turned grey and neither pulse nor respiration could be detected.
"The situation was so urgent that I had to start cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation right away without taking out my first-aid tools."
Three minutes later, the man regained his breath, and started vomiting. By then an ambulance crew arrived to rush him to hospital.
Yip continued: "Although I got the man's vomit all over my face, I never regret giving him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation because any delay could cost his life. I was thrilled when I learned he had survived."
"His daughter was very emotional and had burst into tears after arriving at the hospital. She grasped my hands and thanked me for saving her dad's life."
Visiting the patient twice after the rescue, Mr Yip said that the man's condition was improving. "Although he is still very weak and cannot speak, I believe he will eventually recover with his family's care and support."
Happy Valley Assistant Divisional Commander (Operations), Mr Cheng Tak-sun, highly praised Mr Yip's great effort in the incident. "Despite the unpleasant nature of the task, Mr Yip had tried his utmost to save the old man's life - and succeeded! He has set a good example to all our colleagues by putting the Force's motto - 'We serve with pride and care' into practice."
