New clubhouse for JPC Lantau |
||
Early in July, Lantau Junior Police Call celebrated the completion of a new clubhouse in Yat Tung Estate, Tung Chung, with Islands District Council Chairman, Mr Lam Wai-keung, wielding the scissors at the opening ceremony. The new clubhouse is located in the fast growing Tung Chung area and is doubly welcomed because the original clubhouse, in Mui Wo Government Offices, is temporarily closed for maintenance of the structure and fire services installations. It took only two months to get the 500 square-foot clubhouse ready for opening. Facilities include a television and internet-linked computers that members can use to access the web. It provides a safe and interesting place for members to relax after school rather than wander the streets and hang around basketball courts where they could come under the influence of undesirable members of the community. This summer a series of recreational 'training classes' will be held to teach members first aid, how to swim, how to play the guitar, how to give beauty treatment and, most important, how to cut hair. Cut Hair? Yes, members of the 'Support the Elderly' team will be taught how to cut hair so that they can offer this service to the elderly people on their visiting lists. Lantau JPC welcomes visits from other JPC clubs and from individual members. It is located at Shop No 105, l/F, Yat Tung Plaza, Yat Tung Estate,Tung Chung.
