Officers from Tseung Kwan O Division, Kwun Tong District Police Community Relations Office and Kowloon East Regional Crime Prevention Office, in conjunction with members of the Sai Kung District Council and Fight-Crime Committee, launched an anti-crime publicity campaign after a ceremony held at a Tseung Kwan O shopping arcade on July 19.

Anti-crime leaflets were distributed to local residents to remind them of the modus operandi of swindlers.

In Tai Po, a joint conference on 'Order and the Environment' was organised recently by Tai Po District and representatives from a number of government departments. The conference explored ways in which to enhance local residents' understanding of the crime situation in the district, and promote greater cooperation between Police and the public in the fight against crime.

Tai Po District Commander, Mr Suen Kwai-leung, speaking at the conference, highlighted the urgency of reducing juvenile delinquency because the issue had aroused much public concern.

On Tsing Yi, a seven-a-side soccer competition was held to mark the start of an anti-youth crime campaign. After a tough day-long series of matches involving youth teams from other districts in the territory, Tsing Yi Division finally clinched the winning title after beating a youth group from Tai Po by three goals to one.

Elsewhere, Yuen Long and Tuen Mun Districts launched their 'Help People to Help Themselves' fight-crime publicity campaigns.

The campaign launched by Yuen Long District Police Community Relations Office started on July 19 and will last for six months and focus on home security, shop theft and street deception. Apart from distributing copies of anti-crime leaflets to local residents and shop owners, a series of activities, including seminars, summer fight-crime workshops and exhibitions will be launched with a view to further enhancing public awareness of crime prevention.

Officers of the Tuen Mun District Police Relations Office, the District Fight Crime Committee and about 100 fight crime ambassadors, jointly organised and conducted a 'one letter to one household' exercise to further enhance public awareness of the threat from street swindlers.
