Last month, Yau Tsim and Border Districts each organised tours for members of Junior Police Call to help them reach a better understanding of the life of their Mainland counterparts. A 26-member delegation from Border District Junior Police Call paid a five-day visit to Qingyuan City where they stayed with 30 local students on an 'academic, social and cultural exchange.' The youngsters experienced the simple lifestyle of the city through a series of activities including refurbishment of school campus, repairing of classroom furniture, farming activities and visits to local youngsters' families. They were also invited to tour the policing facilities in Jiulong Town where they observed the work of the local policemen and their weapons. The other tour involved 39 members of Yau Tsim District Junior Police Call who went on a two-day visit to Guangzhou where they learned about the structure and function of various municipal government departments. Apart from visiting the Standing Committee Guangzhou Municipal People's Congress, Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Guangzhou Committee and a university, the delegation also toured the Safari Park.
