For almost a year now, Crime Wing Headquarters has been arranging Knowledge Sharing Sessions. Programme co-ordinators Superintendent Mr Peter Barnes and Senior Inspector Ms Teresa Chiang, with support of Assistant Commissioner Crime, Mr Yam Tat-wing, and other senior officers, have succeeded in getting a wide range of experts to share their knowledge.

For example, talks have been given regarding IPCC Bill, China Law, Cancer Prevention, etc. So far, a total of nine Knowledge Sharing Sessions have been conducted resulting in very positive feedback from the attendees.

At the last Knowledge Sharing Session, Mr Barnes invited a Senior Government Counsel, Mr Edmond Lee, to give a talk on Disclosure of Material to Defence. The talk was open to all crime officers of the Force. The response was tremendous with total 150 crime officers attending.

Prior to the talk by Mr Lee, Mr Barnes gave attendees a brief introduction to Knowledge Management on Lotus Notes, explaining that, from Lotus Notes, officers will be able to access material posted by Crime Wing Headquarters in relation to : Investigation, Court Cases, New Amendments on Guidelines & Procedures and latest Crime Wing Constructions.

The Knowledge Sharing Sessions of Crime Wing are to continue and Force members will be invited to attend those sessions on topics of Common Interest.

Furthermore, if any officer would like Crime Wing Headquarters to hold a Knowledge Sharing Session for a selected topic and believes crime officers will benefit from it, please liaise with Ms Teresa Chiang at 2860-8178 or email teresachiang@police.gov.hk
