Asian Policing Conference

About 160 participants, including senior officers from the Force, Immigration Department, Correctional Services Department, Customs and Excise Department and Independent Commission Against Corruption, earlier attended the Asian Association of Police Studies' conference.

Titled "Asian Policing in the 21st Century", the conference featured speakers who were serving law enforcement officers and scholars from the Chinese People's Public Security University and Korea National Police University.

Hong Kong speakers were the Acting Permanent Secretary for Security, Mr Timothy Tong Hin-ming, and Deputy Commissioner (Management), Mr Lee Ming-kwai, who presented their research papers at the Keynote Forum: "Internal Security Policy and Policing Strategy in Hong Kong: Continuity and Change in the 21st Century".

Mr Lee said, "We got a greater understanding of Police policy and Police work through our Asian counterparts attending the conference, including those from Singapore and India."
