Lifelong learning is a lifeline for all

The Training Wing will be organizing a series of learning and development programmes in order to promote life-long learning amongst officers.

Funding has been allocated from the Save-and-Invest Account to operate a scheme, during the fiscal years 2002/2003 and 2003/2004, to encourage officers to attend a number of identified short local courses on leadership, management, and interpersonal and communication skills by the local universities and training institutions.

Officers are invited to join the Reimbursement for Short Local Courses Scheme under the "Learning and Development Opportunities for JPOs and Junior Inspectors" Project for the semesters in 2002.

The scheme is operated on a course fee refund basis and an applicant will only be eligible for reimbursement under the Scheme provided that he meets the following criteria:

(a) he is either a JPO, regardless of his years of service, or an IP/SIP with less than eight years of service at the Inspectorate rank as at 15 August 2002; and

(b) he has chosen a course from the designated list and completed the course in his private time by either:

(1) having passed the examination as required if there is an examination for the course; or

(2) if there is no examination for the course, having attended 70% of the course sessions as a minimum requirement.

This is an independent and full reimbursement of course fees scheme. If the applicant meets the criteria of the application procedures, he will be eligible for full reimbursement of course fees.
