Training Wing has just published the inaugural issue of Learning Key, a learning bulletin, for Force members.

In launching the Learning Key, Assistant Commissioner Mr David Thomas pointed out that in this fast-changing world, the civil service could only maintain its excellence through creating and nurturing a culture where individuals pursue life-long learning through continuous self-development. The Force is fully aligned with the Government and Mr Thomas urged Force members to keep up-to-date through life-long learning.

"Under the Three-Year Strategic Action Plan, Training Wing intends to instil a sense of belonging, pride and job satisfaction by building confidence through increasing training opportunities, locally and overseas," observed Mr Thomas.

To achieve that objective, Training Wing is currently working on four projects:

  1. Increase study visits to the Mainland for inspectorate and junior Police officers;

  2. Increase training opportunities, locally and overseas;

  3. Conduct a feasibility study on developing a Police College as a Centre of Excellence in Police Training; and,

  4. Introduce a management development programme for senior superintendents and above.

Miss May Kwok, the Editor, said that the purpose of Learning Key is to keep all members of the Force fully abreast of developments in these four projects as well as in other learning opportunities open to members of the Force, both internally and externally.

Learning Key will also carry news of how each Save-to-Invest training and developing project is progressing and what new learning opportunities will open up for Force members.

"Learning Key is a forum for colleagues to air their views about training and share their learning experiences. We welcome all feedback and contributions", she added.

Learning Key will be published three times a year for two years and has been funded as a pilot scheme under the Save-to-Invest Account.

Print copies of Learning Key have been distributed to districts. A web version will be uploaded on Training Wing's Learning Portal, on POINT and on the Force Homepage.
