In response to a request from franchised bus company unions and consultation with their employers, the Crime Prevention Bureau (CPB) organised three Train-the-Trainers Workshops for 80 bus captains and customer service managers.

The workshops were conducted by CPB Superintendent Mr Nathanael Nichols and Chief Inspector Mr Ng Kwok-keung, to enhance participants' awareness on personal safety and their ability in preventing and handling violent incidents. In the workshops they learned the best ways to deal with violent passengers and practised the skills required to do so. Each workshop included a session on case discussion and experience sharing.

With the assistance of the Police Public Relations Branch, CPB will also use the Police Magazine to encourage passengers to co-operate with the bus captains and address any grievances to the management of the company concerned.

Management and unions of the franchised bus companies expressed satisfaction with, and gratitude for, the help that had been given.

Force thanked for organising seminar
