The Prevention of Child Pornography Bill aims at protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation by criminalising child pornography, child pornographic performance and child sex tourism in Hong Kong. The Bill is being scrutinised by a Legco Bills Committee.

To obtain a better understanding of the Force capability in combating child pornography involving the Internet and computer technology, 13 members of the LegCo Bills Committee and officials from the Security Bureau, the Department of Justice and the LegCo Secretariat, made a visit to the Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) Technology Crime Division (TCD) Computer Forensics Laboratory.

They were briefed by TCD Superintendent Mr Hilton Chan Kwok-hung and other officers from the Division on the crime trend and statistics concerning computer crime, the latest technology in computer forensic examination and the work achieved by the Division. They were also shown the Laboratory suite and equipment, which is maintained to international standards, before receiving a demonstration of the examination work in a child pornography case.

The Committee members were most impressed by the Force's professional capabilities in high-technology investigations.
