An eight-member delegation of the Hong Kong Police Training Wing recently visited the Shenzhen People's Police Academy and demonstrated tactics training to the police recruits there. The training exchange exercise is the first visit of the Hong Kong Police to a Police Academy on the Mainland. Led by Superintendent (Weapons Training) Mr Lee Yeung-chi, firearms instructors explained the basic theory and techniques for tactics to some 240 police recruits there. He told OffBeat: "The new recruits were particularly interested in the tactics relating to weapons retention, arrest and control of suspects and the skills in approaching suspicious vehicles. "The visit was very constructive and beneficial for both sides and helped further our understanding of the tactics training on the Mainland. "Hong Kong is now an inseparable part of China and exchanges of this nature will further our knowledge of the modus operandi of Mainlanders, which will in turn help us modify our tactics training," he added. During the two-day visit, members of the mobile training delegation also visited the Shenzhen Police Tactics Training Complex, which is now under construction.
