Three elite Police orienteering teams, led by Senior Inspector Joe Sin, took part in the MSF Orienteering Competition 2003, a fund-raising event organised by Medecins Sans Frontieres, and won three grand trophies.
From the fund-raising point of view, SIP Chan Hung-him and Police Constable Tsang Kun-tung won the Outstanding Individual Donation while the Local Inspectors' Association was the winner of the Excellent Team Donation Prize. A total of $25,000 was raised for the MSF.
The orienteering competition started at Pak Tam Chung, Sai Kung on January 26 and it attracted over 1,700 competitors. The competition, in the form of a treasure hunt, required competitors to make the best use of the two-hour time limit to locate 20 pre-set positions hidden within the competition area.
Sergeant Shum Wing-ming and Assistant Clerical Officer Yeung Hung-por, representing Lantau District, won the Champion's trophy in the two-person team category by finishing the hunt in 1 hour and 14 minutes. SIP Chan Hung-him and WSIP Luk Pui-wan, members of LIA, were 1st runners-up in the mixed two-person category, and Police Constables Yu Kin-shing, Kam Suen, Wong King-shing, Lam Ka-wo of KW EU Platoon 4 were 2nd runners-up in the mixed four-person category.
Well done! Three trophies and a $25,000 donation to charity |
