Message from Hong Kong Red Cross
Blood donations are still needed

When news of the outbreak of SARS was announced by the Department of Health on March 11, the number of blood donors plummeted to an all time low. In these difficult times it is understandable that people are full of anxiety, with worries about their health and their livelihood. It is no wonder that people forget about giving blood.

However, once again Hong Kong people are showing their generous and caring side, for as soon as our Blood Transfusion Service made an appeal for blood, countless donors turned up at our blood donation centres. We are very grateful indeed.

Although elective surgeries have now been put on hold, we still need blood for accidents and emergencies and for non-surgical cases such as support of cancer treatments and various forms of anaemia.

In this time of trial and tribulation, it is the least we can do, for the patients to be certain that they can receive blood in time of need. Every day is a new day and we cannot take things for granted. Our health is so precious. You can help us to help others by your continuous support of the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service.

Forcewide Blood Donation Campaign

Committed to serve the community, the Police Staff Associations have responded to the appeal of the Hong Kong Red Cross by organising a forcewide blood donation campaign. All Force members and their families are welcome to take part in the blood donation exercise, which will take place at the Table Tennis Room, Police Sports and Recreation Club on May 15 (Thursday) from 12:30pm to 7:30pm.
