On April 24, a parade of colourful dragon, lion and unicorn dances livened up Yuen Long as villagers gathered to celebrate the birthday of Tin Hau, also known as the Goddess of the Sea. Police officers also play a vital role in this traditional event -- crowd management. On Tin Hau Festival, more than 300 police officers were deployed to ensure the smooth running of the event. The officers came from the Yuen Long Division as well as the Crime, Auxiliary and District Traffic Team of the Yuen Long District. The PTU "H" Coy and Traffic and Quick Reaction Force of New Territories North were also deployed to help manage a crowd estimated to stand at 6,800.
