CCB officers commended |

The Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) Counterfeit & Forgery Section, acting on information received, conducted a two-month long investigation culminating in February last year with the arrest of a man and a woman in Cheung Wah Estate, Sheung Shui. The officers also seized a computer, nine counterfeit credit cards, 300-odd 'blank' cards and equipment fit for making counterfeit credit cards. The computer hard disk was found to hold more than 200 sets of credit card account data. The actual loss in this case had been $160,000, but the potential loss prevented could have amounted to $6.8 million. In April this year, the High Court sentenced the male defendant to seven and a half years in prison. The female defendant was given a reduced sentence of two years in recognition of her willingness to testify against the 'mastermind' in court. In appreciation of the good work done by CCB officers in neutralising this operation, credit card industry staff presented plaques to the officers involved.
