The Hong Kong Red Cross recently appealed for more blood donations because of shortages due to the SARS outbreak. Personnel Wing Staff Relations Group and the Police Staff Associations, committed to serving the community of Hong Kong, responded to the appeal and organised a Force-wide Blood Donation Campaign at Police Sports & Recreation Club on May 15. A total of 83 Force members had donated a total of 36,000 millilitres of blood.

Kowloon West Regional Commander Mr Mike Dowie, Local Inspectors' Association Chairman Mr Liu Kit-ming, and Junior Police Officers' Association Chairman Mr Lau Kam-wah, went to the collection point to encourage their colleagues and contribute their share of blood.

Force members engage in a little bloodletting - but it's all in a good cause
