Police set for Games glory |

Fifty-eight Force athletes are ready to flex their sporting prowess in the upcoming Tenth World Police and Fire Games in Spain later this month.
At a ceremony held at the Police Sports and Recreation Club on July 8, the athletes received the final briefing from Police Sports Council chairman Mr Mike Dowie, and the delegation was also presented with the Hong Kong SAR and Force flags by Deputy Commissioner (Management) Mr Fung Siu-yuen.
Mr Dowie would lead the team to Barcelona together with Chief Superintendent Mr Ian Seabourne. Superintendent (Catering, Sports and Recreation) Mr David Lo Tat-fai and Leisure Services Manager Ms Mose Mak would also be on hand to assist.
The athletes will take part in various events including archery, athletics, badminton, power-lifting, golf, judo, karate, orienteering, sailing, shooting, squash, swimming, table-tennis, taekwondo, tennis and tenpin bowling.
The Force had performed extremely well in the previous Police and Fire Games held in Indianapolis in 2001 and obtained a total of 38 medals, 17 of which were Gold. OffBeat wishes the team every success in the Games.
