Today I will continue introducing other tips in using Internet Explorer (IE). In daily web-surfing, you should have seen some error messages when using IE. But you may not know what they really mean and then what you can do to deal with them. So I am going to talk about some of these common error messages and their corresponding solutions.
"This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down"
Sometimes when you work on IE, it may display this message and then force itself to close after you have clicked the "OK" button in the message box. This problem is mainly due to the system being so overloaded that IE cannot run smoothly.
To verify the reason for this failure, you can press the "Details" button in the error message box popped up on the screen. Then you can see the message "Iexplorer cause an invalid page fault in module Wininet.dll at 015f:70214e04", which means that IE has encountered problems in dynamically connecting into the information source. This usually occurs when there is in sufficient cache memory for Wininet.dll to run.
To stop this, you can first close some applications no longer in use, and then use Windows' system tools to cleanse the hard disk so as to increase the size of the cache memory.
"Script Error"
Besides, you may see the "Script Error" message pop up while browsing a web page. To tackle the problem, you can take the following steps:
2.Click the "Advanced" tab and search "Browsing" from the "setting" list;
3.Check the "Disable Script Debugging" option under "Browsing";
4.Click the "OK" button to close the window.
"Server Not Found or Failed DNS Lookup"
When you see this message in using IE. It means that either there is a fault in the web page you are browsing or the web site is too busy to handle your browsing request at the moment. Simply try to re-connect it later.
"503 SERVICE UNAVAILABLE"
This message really means that the network traffic is so heavy that you are not allowed to access the web page at the moment. You can now take a break and come back later.
"401 UNAUTHORIZED"
It suggests that you do not have the authorized user ID and password to access this web page. For example, you are trying to access a need-to-pay web page but you are not a registered member of this website.
No response when trying to view a web page
If IE does not display a web page after a long time but it does not show any error message, it is highly probable that your computer has problems in connecting to the website so that the speed to download the web page becomes very slow. Should this happen, you can simply press the "Stop" button on the IE toolbar and then the "Refresh" button. This prompts IE to make a new connection and it will restart the download at normal speed. Another possibility is that your computer has not installed some necessary applications for viewing the web page. IE therefore needs to download and install them online. Certainly that process will delay the display of the web page for quite a long time.
At this point, I believe that you should know more about the IE error messages and responses. Next time you can make use of all the techniques you learnt today to resolve the problems.
