Members of the public, especially youngsters, should always be on the look out for crimes being committed, including street deceptions and scams involving modelling agencies, said the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Donald Tsang, during a visit to the Junior Police Call (JPC) Fight Crime Summer Camp on August 21.
Mr Tsang said: "In addition to Police initiatives, the full support and active involvement of different sectors of the community are essential in tackling the problem." Accompanied by Commissioner Mr Tsang Yam-pui, Mr Donald Tsang took part in the fight crime fun games, posed for a group picture with hundreds of JPC members and looked at the winning entries of "The Correct Use of 999 Emergency Call" poster design competition. The poster design competition, which was held in June and received over 2,600 entries, aimed at educating the public, young people in particular, on the correct use of emergency calls. The annual week-long JPC summer camp at Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village in Ma On Shan was organised by the Police with sponsorship and support from the Summer Youth Programme Committee and other organisations. It aimed at providing wholesome activities for JPC members during the summer vacation. This year, the camp adopted the theme of 'Join us to fight crime' - with an emphasis on street deception, employment and modelling agency scams. Messages on fight crime were effectively disseminated to campers through a wide variety of activities including film shows, seminars, fun games and various sports activities. Running from August 19 to 22, the JPC fight crime summer camp was attended by about 1,500 JPC members. |
