He is survived by his wife, Anna, son, Andrew and daughters, Tammy and Kaylee.

Born in Glasgow in 1932, Mr Ross joined the Force as a sub-inspector in 1954, and served until his retirement in 1988.

During his long service, Mr Ross had served in a wide variety of posts in all the three land regions as well as in the former Crime and Special Branches. His last posting was Kowloon Deputy Regional Commander.

The funeral service was held on October 4 in Richmond. There was a full house with standing room only. Representatives from the Hong Kong Police Old Comrades Association and Royal Hong Kong Police Association were in attendance.
