The Chief Executive, Mr Tung Chee Hwa, has written to the Commissioner Mr Tsang Yam-pui expressing appreciation of the thorough planning made by the Force for the successful activities of the visit by the first Chinese astronaut Colonel Yang Liwei.
"Your staff has worked out sound security and traffic arrangements within a very short period of time, fully displaying their professionalism and outstanding work. This is very commendable. Please convey my thanks to all your staff," said Mr Tung in his letter.
At the same time, the Secretary for Home Affairs, Dr Patrick C P Ho, and the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Ms Shelley Lee, have also written to Mr Tsang to thank the Force for contributing to the success of the visit.
Dr Ho said in his letter: "I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the time and efforts you have made in the past week or so for the visit of China's first astronaut and the manned space team from October 31 to November 5. It goes without saying that your contribution has been instrumental to the overwhelming success of the whole event. Hand in hand, we have proved our mettle and showcased the competency and efficiency of the SAR Government."
Ms Lee said: "The success of the visit is largely due to the spontaneous and tireless efforts made by you and your colleagues, and the tremendous support you gave to the Organising Committee. SHA and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and would be grateful if you would convey our gratitude to all colleagues concerned."
