WPC shines in world contest | ||
Woman Police Constable Ms Angie Tsang once again stole the limelight in the 7th World Wushu Championships earlier this month with one silver and two bronze medals.
Angie won a silver medal in Nanquan Woman event and a bronze medal in Nandao Woman event. Together with a partner, she netted a second bronze medal in a team event.
She said: "Upon winning these medals, I must thank my Wushu master and the Force. My superiors in the Force have helped me a lot and they understood my training needs in the run-up to the competition."
For Angie, success has not come by easily. Prior to the competition, she practised seven days a week, and attended a two-and-a-half hours evening training session every day after a whole day of work at the Police Public Relations Branch.
She said: "It's really hard to practise Wushu after work. But I treasure every training opportunity and I want to get some progress in each training session.
"I am very happy to see the good results. Police work is my lifelong career while practising Wushu is my interest. I am happy to have struck a balance between the two."
Angie also won a silver and two bronze medals in the last World Wushu Championships. More than 400 athletes from 56 countries and places took part in this year's Championships in the Macao Polytechnic Institute between November 2 and 8.
