At the 40th Central Fund Management Committee Meeting, a resolution was passed to adopt the "user-pays" principle so as to maintain a healthy financial position for the Fund. As a result, the monthly contribution rate will be adjusted so that Fund members will share out the premium of the insurance policy of that year. With effect from January 1, the revised monthly contribution rate will be 0.329 per cent of PPS Pt 1 (that is HK$48.4). Despite change of monthly contribution, the Fund will maintain the same level of protection to members, that is $500,000 for life insurance or total and permanent disability, $5,000 death grant to dependent of retired members.
