Last year, the Psychological Services Group (PSG) launched a campaign called "CARELINKS 2003", and held different activities for members of the Force with the aim of promoting positive mental health in the work setting, mutual support among fellow officers, and a healthy lifestyle for enhancement of Force members' mental well-being.

Campaign activities held in 2003 included:

1. Dr Lee Sing giving a talk in a "Mood Management Seminar";

2. A Round-table Forum on "Positive Psychological Coping in a Major Community Crisis" in response to the negative psychological impact brought by SARS;

3. Road Shows to six Regions of the Force;

4. Modular Courses on Counseling, Support, and Crisis Management in the Workplace for police managers and supervisors;

5. Advanced Stress Management Workshop on Personal Emotional Management, and

6. Seminars and Workshops conducted by Dr Ellen Kirschman, renowned psychologist from the US, on police resilience and family support.

Force members have actively participated in the activities and provided the PSG with enthusiastic support and positive feedback. The PSG will continue promoting positive mental health messages in the coming year to remind Force members to strike a balance between personal and work lives.

Meanwhile, the PSG is going to amalgamate its Hong Kong and Kowloon Offices into the present Hong Kong Office on 5th floor, 111 Leighton Road, Causeway Bay in mid March. The Kowloon Office on 22nd floor, Ocean Building, 80 Shanghai Street, Yaumati will stop giving appointments for new cases on February 16, and will subsequently cease operations on March 1. All counseling services provided by Police Clinical Psychologists will then be centralised in the present Hong Kong Office. Force members who are currently receiving services at the Kowloon Office will be individually notified of the subsequent arrangement of counseling services after the amalgamation. Enquiries can be made at 2866-6206 or 2735-3739.
