A record number of teams had completed the 27th Police Annual Mountain Marathon, which was held by the Police Adventure Club (PAC) between December 13 and 14, lasting two days and one night.

A total of 69 teams, each comprising two competitors, started up the hill immediately after CSP Cheung Siu-wah, Vice-chairman of Police Sport Council, gave the signal.

Sixty-five teams finished the first day journey of 25 km and arrived at the Chuen Kam Campsite safely after covering Mine Lead Pass, Shing Mun Reservoir, Tai Mo Shan and Chuen Lung. They later shared their experience in their overnight stay at the campsite.

Having gone through a chilly night at the campsite, the competitors woke up early the next morning ready for the move. Though not having recovered from tiredness the night before, some persisted and covered the remaining 20 km via Hoi Pui Reservoir, Sheung Fa Shan and Lin Fa Shan before arriving at the finishing point at the New Territories South Operation Base.

Compared with previous years, the highest number of teams had successfully completed the whole journey in the 2003 competition. The competition had provided competitors with a good opportunity to learn and practise skills.

CIP Li Hong-man, Chairman of PAC, was pleased with the competitors' team spirit, but was disappointed that some had dropped out from the competition.

Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Mr Chan Wai-ki presented prizes to the winners, and praised PAC officials for organising the successful event. He was also pleased with the high turnout in the competition.
