PTU supports "Operation Santa Claus" |

On December 19, the Police Tactical Unit HQ played host to a charity competition in aid of the "Operation Santa Claus 2003", which is an annual fund-raising campaign jointly sponsored by RTHK and the South China Morning Post. The event has become a favorite team-building programme in the PTU training calendar, and is supported by various units, including PTU "C" Company, Special Duties Unit (SDU), the training "Foxtrot" Company and PTU HQ teams. Contributions have also been received from all the Regional PTU Companies. After the Acting Commandant PTU, Mr David Cartwright, had kicked off the competition, a series of sporting events and challenges started with the "Saxon Pull" where teams, each comprising six officers, competed in pulling a 9.5 tone Saxon armoured vehicle along the drill square. This was followed by the "Redman Rumble", a simulated combat among officers dressed in Red Man protective training suits. Teamwork was the name of all the games and this was best demonstrated when all competitors combined to eliminate their opponents. The "Unit Commander's Birthday Sedan Chair Race" and "Water Bombing" events were full of fun and raised handsome contributions with enthusiastic participation of all units. In the mini-soccer match, PTU HQ beat SDU in an exciting game. The event culminated with an auction, the proceeds of which would also go to charity. It was another successful event and amid all the funs was the serious aim to raise funds in aid of "Operation Santa Claus 2003". To-date, PTU has raised $61,125!
