An inter-school basketball competition organised by New Territories North Regional Crime Prevention Office (NTN RCPO) has come to a successful conclusion following heated competition by 24 secondary schools in Tai Po, Yuen Long and Tuen Mun.

The final of the 2nd "NTN Juvenile Crime Prevention Cup Basketball Competition 2004" was held at Lingnan University on February 7, with the Church of Christ in China Tam Lee Lai Fun Memorial Secondary School winning the championship. The first and second runners-up are the Fanling Lutheran Secondary School and the Jockey Club Eduyong College respectively.

The competition was designed to promote crime prevention messages among students in the region.

NTN Regional Commander Steve Chandler, speaking at the presentation ceremony, said: "The Force is very concerned with youth crime, and is eager to tackle the problem in partnership with different sectors of the community."

NTN RCPO Chief Inspector Hau Kwong-chi said he had organised the basketball competition in the hope that students, besides being more aware of crime prevention, would gain a better understanding of the purposes of life, make positive self-development, and have a chance to experience the environment and atmosphere of a high learning institution.
