The 3rd Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Sports and Family Day was held at Police Sports and Recreation Club on January 11 with over 300 members and their families participating.
As a tradition, sports elites from the Force, Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), Immigration, Fire Services, Correctional Services, Customs and Excise (C & E), Government Flying Service, St. John Ambulance Brigade and Auxiliary Medial Services (AMS) also took part in the annual sports meet. Sports and games of the event included tug-of-war, badminton, table tennis and football. To enhance team spirit and co-operation, an overall Regional champion competition was introduced this year. Through a point system, the scores of all individual team events were aggregated under their respective Regions, and the Region with the highest score would become the overall champion. In this new event, New Territories North has beaten Kowloon East and Hong Kong Island to win the Commandant Shield by 10 and 15 points respectively. Director of Operations Mr Yam Tat-wing; ICAC Assistant Director (Administration) Mrs Chu Fu Kam-lui; C & E Assistant Commissioner (Boundary & Ports) Mr Chan Hon-kit; St. John Ambulance Brigade Assistant Commissioner of HKI Command Mr Poon Sun-biu; AMS Operation and Training Officer Mr Ho Hoo-kam; Immigration Department Staff Club Vice Chairman Mr Li Kwok-kuen; and Fire Services Sports and Welfare Club Vice Chairman Mr Cheung Yat-cheong, presented trophies to the winners. For the first time in this annual event, the Police Shooting Club provided live shooting in PSRC's Indoor Range as an additional game, which was very popular with members eager to test their marksmanship.
