Medals galore for Force athletes in Corporate Games |
|||
The Force athletics team has fought off stiff opposition to clinch 41 medals, including 19 gold medals, in the Corporate Games Track and Field Championships held at Kowloon Bay Sports Ground.
The team has also given notable performances in the open relays where Force athletes made a clean sweep of championship medals, winning both the men's and women's 4x100m and 4x400m events. In the men's competition, individual double gold medal winners included Constable Yuen Tak-shun of Kowloon West Emergency Unit (100m and 200m) and Constable Tang Chun-yip of Happy Valley Division (400m and 800m). Forming the backbone of the team were gold medal winners Senior Inspector Lee Shek-lun of Kowloon East Emergency Unit (High Jump), Senior Inspector Barry Truhol of Yau Ma Tei Division (YMT DIV) (Shot Put), Constable Tang Ho-cheong of Hong Kong Island Emergency Unit (100m), Constable Li Chak-ming of Airport Security Unit (200m), Constable Chan Man-for of Police Tactical Unit (PTU) A Company (1500m), Constable So Ho-kei of PTU B Company (Long Jump) and Senior Inspector Chris Irvine of YMT DIV (Shot Put). In the Women's competition, individual double gold medal winner Inspector Cheung Leung-yuk of Kowloon City Division led the way in the 800m and 1500m. Again, strength in depth was apparent with gold medals also going to Senior Inspector Ip Ka-yee of Commercial Crime Bureau (200m) and Constable Lam Chi-lok (400m). Constable Pang Ka-po of Traffic New Territories North (Discus and Shot Put) and Constable Kwok Yee-man of Security Wing (100m and Long Jump) were double individual silver medalists, again adding valuable points to the overall score of the Force team.
