Donated by Sir Shiu Kin as a gesture of his close relationship with the Force, the silver mace has been used by the Police Bagpipe Band in all major official ceremonies since 1987.

Officiating at the ceremony, Commissioner Lee Ming-kwai reminisced the late philanthropist's contributions to police staff welfare and thanked his family for their continued support. Sir Shiu Kin's widow, Lady May, son Richard and daughter Yvonne also attended the ceremony.

During the ceremony, a minute's silence was observed before the Police Band played and Lady May was presented with a bouquet.
