Kowloon West fraud busters commended

Representatives of the banking and credit card industry recently presented certificates of appreciation to officers from Kowloon West Crime Headquarters for their efforts in neutralising a major fraud syndicate.

Regional Crime Unit 3A of Kowloon West had conducted a complex and protracted investigation into the illicit loans and credit card cash advance totalling $4.8 million obtained by the syndicate, and arrested 132 persons, including the syndicate's core members. All the persons had subsequently been convicted by the District Court.

To show appreciation of the officers' perseverance and professionalism, the representatives presented certificates to Senior Superintendent (Crime) Ip Wai-keung, Superintendent Crime (Operations) John Ribeiro, Chief Inspector Lo Kai-wah and other officers of the Regional Crime Unit 3A.
