New Territories North (NTN) Juvenile Protection Section has joined hands again with the Evangelical Lutheran Church Community Youth Enhancement Scheme in a bid to prevent youth crime.

Both parties launched an "Anti-Juvenile Crime"campaign in Yuen Long Town Hall on August 1 for the second time.

Commenting on the event, Chief Inspector Hau Kwong-chi of NTN Regional Crime Prevention Office said youths "threw themselves wholeheartedly into last year's campaign" and, through various activities, adopt a positive attitude towards society and the police.

"Through the game of 'shuttling back and forth from a mock city', they realise there are different development opportunities as well as different traps in society. They also appreciate the concept of 'No pains, no gains', and the importance self-enhancement.

"We continue to hold the campaign this summer in the hope that more young people will participate and share the experience in the role-play game. These will make them realise the consequences of committing crime, and get a better idea of the judicial system,"he added.

Mr Hau thanked the Evangelical Lutheran Church Community Youth Enhancement Scheme for their assistance and contributions in organising this year's campaign, and looked forward to more cooperation in the future.

"It is hoped that there would be more activities of this nature, so that our young people could better cope with difficulties, set their targets, and make contributions to society,"he noted.
