New HOS DSQs well received in viewing session

About 6,700 officers and their families visited 34 show flats at Yau Mei Court and Ko Cheung Court in Yau Tong, and Kwai Yung Court and Kwai Chung Phase 7 in Kwai Chung during the first viewing session for new Home Ownership Scheme (HOS) Disciplined Services Quarters (DSQs) last month.

After the visit, the officers generally found the new HOS DSQs better than they had expected, especially the quality and size of units.

More viewing sessions will be held next month

They also found the new quarters easily accessible for daily necessities and recreational facilities within close proximity.

Police Constable Chiu of Airport District visited the show flats with his wife and son. The couple regarded the quarters at Yau Mei Court far better than their present quarters in Kwai Chung PMQ in terms of size and supporting facilities. With the Yau Tong MTR Station close by, Mrs Chiu said it would be more convenient for her to go to work in Wan Chai. As the family is expecting another new family member early next year, the couple wish to be allocated with a new unit at Yau Mei Court or Ko Cheung Court.

After visiting the units at Kwai Chung Phase 7 with his wife and six-year-old daughter, Police Constable Chu of Cheung Sha Wan Division was happy with the new environment, as well as the fixtures and fittings of bathrooms and kitchens. The little girl was particularly thrilled at the prospect of having her own bedroom.

Management Support

On August 30, Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Chan Wai-ki and Chief Superintendent (CS&D) Tsang Choi-on, together with the Chairman and representatives of JPOA, visited the new HOS DSQs units. The party also met, and discussed the project, with officers and their families who were visiting the show flats.

Mr Chan pointed out that the HOS DSQ project would improve the overall standards of quarters, allowing more officers to reside in units commensurate with their services and salary points.

The viewing session was organised with the assistance of JPOA, which also provided volunteers to assist in conducting the session in an orderly manner.

Second viewing session

The second viewing session for new HOS DSQs will be held between October 1 and 15 for all eligible Force members. To register for visits, officers may call registration hotlines 2860-2965 or 2860-2966 during office hours from September 13 to 17 for appointments on a first-come-first-served basis. Successful officers will be notified on or before September 24. To avoid overcrowding at HOS sites, each officer may only bring a maximum of two family members for their visits.

Depending on demands, officers will be able to select the dates and time for their visits during the 15-day viewing period. Morning and afternoon sessions will take place between 8 am and 1 pm, and from 1 pm to 6 pm. Each session will accommodate about 200 families.

Although Police Quartering Division will try their best to accommodate all requests, officers are advised to make appointments as early as possible so as to avoid over subscription for visits.
