New Territories South (NTS) Regional Crime Headquarters have pulled off a major success in a region-wide clamp down on crimes.

Over the past six months, NTS Regional Crime Units (RCUs) have neutralised five burglary syndicates active in the territory, and arrested 13 culprits involved in 17 burglaries and eight attempted burglaries. The burgled premises included seafood restaurants, cafes, offices and schools, with the value of stolen property amounting to about $700,000.

The clamp down began at the beginning of this year when NTS Regional Crime Headquarters launched the "Operational Target 2004", and assigned each RCU with different responsibilities to tackle crimes prevalent in the region and the territory.

Assigned as the leading investigation team for burglaries, RCU 2 joined hands with NTS Regional Intelligence Unit to analyse the crime trend, gather crime information, and carry out arrest actions. In addition, officers also visited "high risk" premises and gave advice on improving security.

Besides commendation by NTS Regional Commander, NTS Crime Headquarters have also earned the compliments of a plastic product company, which holds RCU officers in high regard for their efficiency and outstanding performances.
